Statistics
The Police Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network publishes statistics on recorded offences, incidents attended, arrests, property and the capacity of its stations and community policing teams. This first release covers the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, during which member organisations transferred their security and crime-reporting functions to the Department, and records the position at establishment on 6 September 2026.
The figures are drawn from the incident records transferred by member organisations, from the records of the interim patrols directed by the Department from 10 August, and from the control room record kept from 24 August. Figures for the transition period are provisional. Member organisations recorded offences under differing rules before the transition, and the Department has reclassified their records to its own categories; later releases will revise these figures where reclassification is found to have been in error.
The position at establishment. The figures below record the Department at the point of establishment.

Of the 412 sworn officers, 214 serve in Response and Patrol Command, 50 in the community policing teams, 76 in Investigations Command and 72 in Operations Support. All 412 were transferred from the security functions of member organisations and completed the Department's conversion training during the transition period. The population the Department serves, taking the daily average of staff, residents and visitors present at the six principal sites, is estimated at 144,700.
Recorded offences during the transition. Offences recorded under the interim arrangements are shown below by category. The rise between the two halves of the period reflects the opening of the control room on 24 August, from which point every report received a reference number and was recorded, rather than an increase in crime.

Theft, public order offences and fraud together account for two thirds of recorded offences. Violence against the person accounts for under seven per cent, and of the 59 offences recorded, 44 were common assaults without injury. There were no offences of homicide, robbery with a weapon or arson recorded during the period.

The daily population is the average number of staff, residents and visitors present at the site on a weekday, supplied by the member organisations at each site, and is given so that the sites may be compared. By that measure Meridian Court, with the smallest population, has the highest rate of recorded offences per head, half of them frauds against residents; Central Exchange, with the largest, has the lowest.

Capacity from September 2026. The table below records the patrol officers of Response and Patrol Command based at each station, the hours of patrol cover and the community policing team assigned to the site, as established for the Department's first months of operation. Officers of Investigations Command and Operations Support are based at Central Exchange and Southbank and are not shown against a single site.

The Department will publish statistics quarterly. The next release, covering the quarter ending 30 September 2026, will be published in October 2026 and announced in the Newsroom. It will add outcomes for recorded offences, the time taken to answer written reports and the number of certificates issued.
